Introduction

in the UK 1in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year. This is quite an eye-opening statistic if you compare it to the number of people in your workplace: if you work with 40 people, then the likelihood is that 10 of them will be affected by mental health issues at any one time.

Managers and employers play a key role improving the mental health and wellbeing of people in the workplace. Having an understanding of what mental health problems are, how to recognize them and how they affect a person’s life, both at work and at home, is therefore vital.

However, talking about mental health at work can be a challenging issue for everyone, This course aims to provide you with an understanding of mental health problems so you know how to support people at work, promote mental health awareness and encourage a healthy working environment.
